Mother’s Day concert returns The Solomon Family presents its annual Mother's Day concert at 5:30 p.m., Sunday May 11 at Church of Christ Written In Heaven, 617 Blackwell Street.
Among those scheduled to sing are recording artists Desmond Roberson and the Roberson Bunch, Alexis Johnson and Debra Murray. The Lee Brothers from St. Augustine, Fla., also will sing.
‘New to You Sale’ May 16-17 at Grace Grace Episcopal Church, 401 Pendleton Street, has scheduled its spring “New To You Sale” Friday-Saturday, May 1617.
The fundraiser will be 9 a..m.-6 p.m. Friday and 911:30 a.m. Saturday in the parish hall on the Mary Street side of the church. There will be gently used apparel, toys, housewares, books, furniture, electronics and more.
Chicken dinners available May 2
River of Life Church, 1439 Brunel Street will sell chicken plates from noon to 1 p.m. Friday, May 2.
Plates are $15 each and include one-quarter smoked chicken, homemade potato salad, baked beans, roll, and cake slice.
Orders of five plates or more to one location are eligible for delivery. Proceeds benefit a World Mission project in Africa.

Youmans Chapel sets Spring Fling Youmans Chapel Baptist Church, Dean Still Road, Blackshear, holds a Spring Fling following its 11 a.m. worship service Sunday, May 4.
The family event will be on the church grounds and include hot dogs and fixings along with snow cones, popcorn, funnel cakes and beverages.
There will be a bouncy houses for the children and games for all age groups. Church pastor is Jimmy Thrift.
Way of Cross has has food giveaway Way of the Cross EPC holds a free food and clothing giveaway at 8 a.m. the first Saturday of each month at 512 Lee Avenue.
