WARNER ROBINS — Ware County’s Lady Gators and Gators each finished third in their respective divisions here at the Region 1 track meet.
The host Lady Demons ran away with the title piling up 221 points to outdistance the five-team field. They were followed by New Hampstead (151), Ware County (132), Perry (92) and Wayne County (62).
Benedictine topped the six-team boys’ meet with 194 points. The Cadets were followed by host Warner Robins (152.5), Ware County (113), New Hampstead (102), Perry (84.5) and Wayne County (33).
The Lady Gators had nine individuals and three relay teams qualify for the Saturday, May 3 A Sectional hosted by Mundy’s Mill at Morrow High School in Ellenwood. The Gators are sending six individuals and three relay teams.
Only the top four finishers advance to the Sectional. The top eight finishers at each of the two Sectionals advance to the two-day Class 4A meet at East Jackson High School in Commerce scheduled for Friday, May 9 and Saturday, May 10.
Girls’ meet
The Lady Gators’ Shardell Vickers (two events) and Jada Evans posted the lone wins.
Vickers was first in both the discus (92’5”) and shot put (36’4”) while Evans (35’) captured the triple jump.
Finishing runner-up were Lailani Carson (31’4.5”) in the triple jump, Amaria Dukes (1:04.18/1:04.99 prelim) in the 400m, the 4x200m relay team (1:47.59) and the 4x100m relay team (50.04 sec.).
Placing third were Shakia Lane (5’) in the high jump, KeMya Crowley (15’9.75”) in the long jump, Destiny Finney (33’9”) in the shot put and the 4x400m relay team (4:33.17).
Earning the final spots with fourth-place finishes were Jada Conaway (13.05 sec./12.96 in prelim) in the 100m and Charlacia Jones (15’7.5”) in the long jump.
Finishing fifth were Natalie Paterson (4’10”) in the high jump, Jada Evans in both the discus (75’11”) and shot put (32’), Nadya Ellis (52.82 sec./53.87 prelim) in the 300m hurdles and the 4x800m relay team (14:37.43).
Posting sixth-place finishes were Destiny Finney (69’) in the discus, Kiyoko Ward (7:29.34) in the 1,600m and Shakia Lane (27.99 sec,/27.73 prelim) in the 200m,.
Recording seventh-place finishes were Shaliah Davis (4’8”) in the high jump, Shidaviona Washington (15’4”) in the long jump and KeMya Crowley (13.51 sec./13.43 prelim).
Notching eight-places finishes were Nadya Ellis (37.82 sec./17.97 prelim) in the 100m hurdles and India Brinson (DNF/13 sec. prelim) 100m.
Finishing 10th were Charmaine Farrell (1:09.84) in the 400m, Kasi Jackson (1:06.98) in the 300m hurdles and Izzy Griffis (3:38.67) in the 800m.
Placing 11th were Kasi Jackson (24.12 sec.) in the 100m and Lailani Carson in both the 400m (1:09.64) and 200m (31.09 sec.).
Boys’ meet
The Gators had four individual champions with wins by Adarius Brown (6’2”) in the high jump, Isaiah Grayer (13’3” school record) in the pole vault, Cameron King (20’9”) in the long jump and Jamar Birden (49’7”) in the shot put.
Recording second-place finishes were Cameron King (43’6.5”) in the triple jump, Jamar Birden (147’10”) in the discus and the 4x100m relay team (43.64 sec.), Finishing third were Davion Jones (6’) in the high jump, David Muchison (12’6”) in the pole vault and the 4x800m relay team (9:01.63). The 4x400m relay team (3:43.65) placed fourth.
Grabbing fifth-place finishes were Bryce Baldwin (40’1.5”) in the triple jump, Javonte’ Evans in both the discus (130’11”) and shot put (43’) and the 4x200m relay team (1:33.87).
Placing sixth were Ja’Quavious Owens (44.05 sec./46.12 prelim) in the 300m hurdles and Zion Sutton (2:15.79) in the 800m. Bryce Baldwin (19’6”) was seventh in the long jump.
Posting eighth-place finishes were Ziacheas White (11.71 sec./11.28 prelim) in the 100m and Darius Lawence (53.62 sec./53.59 prelim) in the 400m.
Brayten Hook (5:04.58) was ninth in the 1,600m and Jermaine Strickland (19.14 sec.) 10th in the 110m hurdles.
Recording 11th-place finishes were Uriah Benefield (39’1”) in the shot put, Brock Payne (5:35.20) in the 1,600m, Davion Jones (11.59 sec.) in the 100m and Jaden McKelvin (54.72 sec.) in the 400m.
Finishing 12th were Jermaine Strickland (52.50 sec.) in the 300m hurdles, Brayten Hood (2:28.21) in the 800m and Rykeil Kitchen (23.98 sec.) in the 200m.
Placing 13th were Jac’Quavion Taylor (55.95 sec.) in the 400m, Tayshaun Franklin (24.06) in the 200m and Wesley Frye (14:02.21) in the 3,200m. Ja’Vonni Miller (24.54 sec.) was 14th in the 200m.
