The Pierce County High School Class of 2025 will make history with this year’s graduation ceremony.
Graduation will still be held Friday night. It will still be held at 8 p.m. and as always, it will be at Bear Stadium in Bearville (weather permitting).
What is changing? For the first time in history, the graduation ceremony will take place before the last day of school. The ceremony will also be a week earlier than it’s traditionally held. By comparison, the ceremony was held May 26 in 2023.
This year’s graduation ceremony will be held at 8 p.m. Friday, May 16, at Bear Stadium in Bearville.
Last day of school for the school system will be Tuesday, May 20.
“Our seniors will have already completed their requirements for graduation prior to May 20. We wanted to keep graduation on Friday night, so our seniors will graduate before the last day of school,” explained School Superintendent Dara Bennett.
Bennett said the school calendar was approved by the majority of faculty members and will allow post planning to be completed before the Memorial Day holiday. Memorial Day is generally considered to be the unofficial beginning of summer.
Underclassmen, middle school and elementary school students will have their last day of school Tuesday, May 20.
Post planning for faculty and staff will be May 21-23.
