CANEY BAY — Brantley County’s No. 1 seed Lady Herons took a step closer to playing for a second straight championship beating Region 1 Thomasville 3-0 here Monday in an “Sweet 16” matchup.

BCHS followed its demolition of Dublin in the first round with another easy win. The victory sets up an “Elite 8” home matchup with eighth-seed ACE Charter, who knocked off ninth-seed Commerce.

Brantley County lost just one game in sweeping the singles competition and were up a set in the doubles matches.
Brooklyn Wildes posted a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 1 singles over Ruby Do. Raylee Strickland was victorious at No. 2 beating Ella Rodd 6-1, 6-0. Haley Jane Smith recorded a 6-0, 6-0 decision at No. 3 over Kamryn Shokat.
The No. 1 doubles team of Summer Colley and Bri Crews held a 6-2, 4-3 lead over Trinity Do and Addison Johnson when the match was pulled. The No. 2 tandem of Harlee Driggers and Savannah Carroll led 6-4, 1-0 against Nephtaile Wooten and Payten Mustain when play was halted.
