BRUNSWICK — Mecia Ann Grooms Hubbard, 66, passed away peacefully at home Wednesday, April 23, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones.
Born in Brunswick to John Calvin and Laura Ann Chancy Grooms, she grew up in Brunswick and

Florida. It was in Ft. Myers, Fla., she met Mark Hubbard at 16 years old. They married February 3, 1977.
After he joined the US Air Force, Mrs. Hubbard and their children lived in different places around the country including Homestead, Fla., and Las Vegas, Nevada. When her husband retired from the Air Force, the Hubbards returned to Brunswick.
Mrs. Hubbard went to work for Coastal Cleaners where she remained for 20 years.
She loved her grandchildren more than anything. Mrs. Hubbard also enjoyed reading (she preferred romance novels) and traveling.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, and she will be deeply missed.
Mrs. Hubbard was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Hollis Grooms.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Mark Hubbard, Sr.; children, Patricia Hubbard (Tarah Dillingham) and Mark Hubbard, Jr. (Lacey) of Brunswick; sisters, Cathryn Grooms Rhoden (James) of Waynesville and Ginger Grooms Nichols (Jay) of Brunswick; grandchildren, Andrew Hubbard, Hailey Hubbard, Mark Hubbard III and Jack Hubbard; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service was held Monday, April 28, 2025, at Chapel Park Cemetery.
