Special to The Beacon CANEY BAY — Brantley County Middle School 8th-grade students were given a special gift during their April 3 lunch.
The Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) Leadership Team distributed a total of 250 bibles to their fellow students, fostering an atmosphere of community and faith among the youth.
This initiative was made possible through the generosity and support of the Swampland Stampede, an annual rodeo event aimed at raising funds for both FCA and the Future Farmers of America (FFA). The rodeo played a crucial role in financing the bibles for the students.
Two prominent figures from Brantley County took on the challenge of participating in a rodeo event known as “chute dogging” to help raise money for the cause.
Athletic Director and Assistant Principal at BCHS Max Stieve and Pastor Phillip Cochran of Southside Baptist Church stepped up to support this initiative, demonstrating their commitment to the community’s youth.
FCA Huddle Coach Dustin Ray expressed his gratitude to Danny Varnadore and Jubilee Farms for organizing such a successful event for the tricounty area.
Ray emphasized it was a true community effort, with local churches uniting to ensure that every 8th-grade student receive a bible.
He acknowledged the invaluable contributions of all the pastors involved in this meaningful project.
The next Swampland Stampede is scheduled for Friday, December 5 and Saturday, Decemer 6 at the fairgrounds in Waycross.
The annual event is a fantastic opportunity for families to enjoy thrilling rodeo activities while supporting local causes.
