Lindon Alvin Deal, 83, died unexpectedly Saturday morning, April 12, 2025, at Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross.
He was born September 22, 1941 in
Jesup to the late
Tera Clifton Deal and Edith Deal
Marie Carter Deal of Waycross. A 1959 graduate of Waycross High School, he retired from UPS in 1996 after having been employed for 32 years. Before UPS, he served with the U.S. Army, and he was stationed in Turkey. After being stationed overseas for two years, he returned home to Waycross. On the first day back on United States soil, he met the love of his life, Sharon Lee Varnadore. The two later married on June 16,1963 and remained married for 62 years — a true love story.
He was a member of the Waycross Exchange Club for many years, and before that he had been a member of the Waycross Jaycees. He and his wife spent a lot of time together, especially while running their very successful catering business, Deals Catering. They catered to the community for 26 years and retired the business in 2023. He loved Jesus first, and his family second. He was a great pillar of the community, and he gave to those in need when he could. He was a man of faith and shared the gospel any chance he could.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Terry Deal and great-nephew, Harrison Deal.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Sharon Lee Varnadore Deal, Waycross; three children, Tori Deal, Sheri Deal and Lindon Alvin Deal Jr. (late Becky Jean Harris Deal); continuing his legacy, he leaves behind several grandchildren, Justin Deal (Angela Turner), Michael Burnette, Lindsey Mullis (Raven) and Mary Parker Nguyen (Justin); six greatgrandchildren, Carter Deal, Phillip Davis, Harper Deal, Caroline Nguyen, Hamp Nguyen and Naomi Mullis; his brothers, Jerald Deal (Debbie), Russell Deal, Curtis Deal, and Elder Rickey Deal (Jeanelle); sister-in-law, Janice Deal and numerous nieces and nephews.
