BEARVILLE — Pierce County High School will have four other teams competing in the first round of their respective sports Class AA tournaments.
The Region 3 champion Bears’ tennis team is the No. 2 seed behind Murray County while the region runner-up Lady Bears are seeded seventh.
The region runner-up Lady Bears are the 11th seed in the soccer playoffs with the Bears receiving a 15th seed.
Golf and track are competing this week in region events.
Tennis
The Bears, one of five Region 3 programs in the field of 32 teams, will entertain 31st-seed Booker T. Washington High School of Region 5.
PCHS would host each round through the semifinals. The first round must be completed by Thursday, April 24.
The winner faces the survivor of 15th-seed Savannah Arts Academy (Region 3) and Augusta’s Davison Fine Arts, a No. 18 seed, of Region 4.
Appling County, seeded seventh, is hosting Region 2’s Jackson, seeded 26th. Tattnall County, a No. 19 seed, travels to Region 7 Sonoraville, seeded 14th. Cook, the 25th seed, visits eighth-seed Sumter County of Region 1.
Second round matchups are to be completed by Tuesday, April 29.
The Lady Bears are also one of five regionmates who will participate in the 32-team bracket with the first round being completed by today (Wednesday, April 23). PCHS is one of three region teams in seeded in one quadrant.
Pierce County will host 26th-seed Cook. The winner advances to face the winner of 23rd-seed Tattnall County and 10thseed Columbia of Region 6.
Region champion Appling County is the top seed and is hosting 32ndseed Carver-Columbus of Region 1. The winner advances to face either 16thseed Pike County of Region 2 or 17th-seed Savannah Arts Academy.
Second round matchups are to be completed by Tuesday, April 29.
Soccer
The Lady Bears are hosting 22nd-seed Westside- Macon of Region 2. The matchup must be played by Thursday, April 24.
The winners advances to meet the winner of N0. 6 Thomson and No. 27 Butler with the second being finished by Thursday, May 1.
Third-seed Savannah Arts will host 30th-seed Hardaway of Region 1. Tattnall County, seeded 29th, travels to fourth-seed Drew Charter of Region 6. Appling County, No. 32, goes to top seed Pike County of Region 2.
The Bears will host 18thseed Union County of Region 7. The matchup must be played by Friday, April 25. No. 2 seed Tattnall County is hosting 31st-seed Therrell of Region 5. Seventh- seed Crisp County faces No. 26 Redan of Region 6. No. 14 Appling County host 19th-seed Savannah Arts.
