James Michael McCarthy

WAYCROSS — Mr. James Michael McCarthy, 70, of Waycross died Sunday evening, April 13, 2025, at his residence after an extended illness.

McCarthy was born in Waycross to the late John E. McCarthy and Blanche Howard Mc-Carthy. He had made Waycross and Augusta his home for his entire life. A master painter, McCarthy worked for many years

with his brother at Precision Painting in Augusta. He was a member of Jordan Church in Dixie Union. McCarthy loved to hunt and fish.

Along with his parents, McCarthy was also preceded in death by his daughter, Jessica Michelle McCarthy; three brothers, David Williams, Danny Williams and Jeff Mc-Carthy; and two sisters, Teri Shirey and Rita Elaine McCarthy.

McCarthy is survived by his wife, Karen McCarthy of Waycross; daughter, Melissa LeGare and her husband, Randy, of Blackshear; son, Cray McCarthy and his wife, Jennifer, of Jesup; five grandchildren, Brandon Lee, Richard LeGare and his wife, Regan, Randall LeGare, Jr., Brandon McCarthy and Haden McCarthy; three great grandchildren, Kashlynn Simmons, Kyler Simmons and Tyler Simmons; sister, Lori Ann Lane and her husband, Alan, of Waycross; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A memorial service was held Saturday, April 19 at Jordan Church.
