Thinclads finish 1st and 2nd in finale

Ware County closed out its regular season track schedule with Thursday’s three-team home meet.

The Lady Gators ran wild piling up 228 points to easily outdistance Camden County (100) and McIntosh County Academy (83) April 17 to notch a second win in the final week.

The Gators finished second trailing Camden County’s 239 points with 195. MCA was third with 95 points.

Ware County competes in the Region 1-AAAA this week at Warner Robins. Day 1 of preliminaries was held Tuesday, April 22 with the finals set for Thursday, April 24.

Girls’ meet

The Lady Gators recorded six individual first-place finishes and swept the four relay events.

Winning were Jada Conaway (12.76 seconds) in the 100-meter, Nadya Ellis in both the 100m hurdles (18.09 sec.) and 300m hurdles (54.84 sec.), Jada Evans (35’5.5”) in the triple jump, Shardell Vickers in both the discus (90’) and shot put (34’9”), the 4x100m relay team (50.93 sec.), the 4x200m relay team (1:50.20), the 4x400m relay team (5:05) and the 4x800m relay team (12:23).

Posting second-place finishes were Shidaviona Washington in the 200m

(27.73 sec.) and long jump (15’3.5”), Amaria Dukes (1:05.48) in the 400m, Kiyoko Ward in both the 1,600m (7:49) and 3,200m (17:26), KeMya Crowley

(15’3.5”) in the long jump, Jada Evans

(84’2”) in the discus and Destiny Finney

(34’8.25”) in the shot put.

Finishing third were India Brinson

(13.11 sec.) in the 100m, Shakia Lane

(28.46 sec.) in the 200, Charmaine Farrell (1:09.10) in the 400m, Kasi Jackson

(25.47 sec.) in the 100m hurdles, Destiny Finney (79’7.5”) in the discus and Jada Evans (29’) in the shot put.

Placing fourth were Lailani Carson

(1:09.24) in the 400m, Kiyoko Ward

(3:25) in the 800m, Kasi Jackson

(1:09.29) in the 300m hurdles and Cami Barnes (67’5”) in th discus.

KeMya Crowley (13.61 sec.) finished fifth in the 100m. Recording sixth-place finishes were Izzy Griffis (4:13) in the

800m, and Quamari Christian (48’2”) in the discus.

Boys’ meet

The Gators captured five individual events led by Jamar Birden winning both the discus (121’3”) and shot put

(47’). Also notching first-place finishes were Brayten Hood (5:07) in the

1,600m, Adarius Brown (6’5”) in the high jump and Isaiah Grayer (12’6”) in the pole vault.

Placing second were Wesley Frye (13:32) in the 3,200m, Cameron King

(20’4”) in the long jump, David Muchison (10’) in the pole vault, Teshaun Wilson (114’9”) in the discus and the

4x800m relay team (9:21).

Finishing third were Darius Lawence

(53.97 sec.) in the 400m, Zion Sutton

(2:20.27) in the 800m, Laith Lairsey

(13:41) in the 3,200m, Ja’Quavious Owens (46.81 sec.) in the 300m hurdles, Savion Love (18’6”) in the long jump, Cameron King (42’8”) in the triple jump, Da’Marion Zanders (10’) in the pole vault, Javonte’ Evans in both the discus

(112’2”) and shot put (40’3”), and the

4x100m relay team (44.05 sec.), Posting fourth-place finishes were Ja’Quavious Owens (23.85 sec.) in the

200m, Jac’Quavion Taylor (54.56 sec.) in the 400m, Davion Jones (5’7”) in the high jump, Daniel Tripp (5’7”) in the high jump, Jaden McKelvin (10’) in the pole vault and Uriah Benefield (37’5”) in the shot put.

Davion Jones (11.67 sec.) notched a fifth-place showing in the 100m. Recording sixth-place finishes were Jaden McKelvin (55.57 sec.) in the

400m, Brayten Hood (2:21.23) in the

800m and Joshua Smith (5:35) in the

1,600m.

Kentavious Black (11.94 sec.) placed seventh in the 100m. Hayden Clement

(6:12) was eighth in the 1,600m. Finishign 10th were Jermell Terry (2:45.93) in the 800m and Jaylen Studivent

(26’5”) in the shot put.
