Containers available

The Waycross citywide spring cleanup program moved into its next-t0-last week Monday.

A refuse container is in city Commission District 4 through Sunday, April 27 for any resident’s unwanted household items.

The container, which currently is in Monroe Park near the tennis courts, will be in District 5 at Oakland Cemetery near the water tower Monday, April 28 through Sunday, May 5.

Residents from anywhere in the city may place household refuse in a container. Collection containers are available from early morning until sundown.

Among the prohibited items in the collection are tires, containers of paint, solvents, chemicals or pesticides, building materials, tree removal debris, bricks or blocks.

The city’s regular weekly collection schedule for yard waste and household items continues during the campaign. Household refuse requires a call to the public works department (912) 287-2955 to schedule a time for the pickup.
