WEST POINT — Brantley County’s Hayden Hickox and Brysen Chancey recorded a 13th-place finish in the final bass fishing qualifier before the state finals at Lake Lanier in Gainesville.
The duo, who have already punched their ticket to the May 3 final event, landed five fish weighing 10 lbs., 13 ounces recording Brantley County’s highest finish this year.
Morgan County’s Nolan Holloway and Ben Lanford finished first with a weight of 19 lbs., 2 oz.
A total of 205 teams competed Saturday, April 5 at Lake La-Grange with 151 turning in at least one fish for a weight. A total of 488 were caught with 476 alive at the weight-in.
The team of Saybree Niece and Waylon Thomas, who qualified Clarks Hill, finished in a three-way tie for 35th with a weight of 9 lbs., 3 oz., for their limit of five.
Eli Crawford and Kolby McCeod finished 87th with their three fish weighing 5 lbs., 3 oz.
Benjamin Carter and Carter Steed, who earned a spot at Lake Oconee, tied for 120th catching two with a weight of 3 lbs. 3 oz.
Ryder Todd and Memphis Stewart completed the Brantley County contengent recording at least one catch with theirs weighing two pounds.
Randy Johns and Payton Hanchey give BCHS four teams participating in the finals. Johns and Hanchey were 15th at Clark Hills.
