Jesse Cornell Clubb

SCHLATTERVILLE — Jesse Cornell Clubb, 87, died Sunday afternoon, April 13, 2025, in the Wayne Memorial Hospital of Jesup following a sudden illness.

Clubb was born in Spartanburg, S.C., and lived 19 years in Chiefland Fla., where he raised his family. In 1984, he moved to Brantley County making his home in Hortense before making his residence on Mattie Shuman Road.

Clubb was the son of the late Clarence J. Clubb and Everie Jacobs Clubb. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Alice King Clubb; a grandson, Daryl Lee Edwards, Jr.; and siblings, Havelyn Sing, James A. Clubb and Evangeline Clubb King.

Clubb attended New Hope Primitive Baptist Church in Hickox. He started his career with Brunswick Pulp and Paper which later became Georgia Pacific. Clubb retired in 1996 as road manager after more than 40 years of total service. He loved his family and enjoyed farming after his retirement.

Survivors include three daughters, Jessie C. Brazell, Diane Edwards (Daryl), both of Surrency, Ga., and Carmel A. Jackson (Rusty) of Waycross; two sons, the Rev. Tony Clubb (Melanie) of Trenton, Fla., and Dennis Clubb (Ruth) of Surrency; 13 grandchildren, Terrell Brazell (Marlena), Kevin Brazell (Karen), Allison Parr (Matt), Kimberly Pucciariello (Jordan), Jennifer Burch, Shannon Samples (Andrew), Jessica Little (Tyler), Hillary Cribbs (Brian), Heather Rawlins (John), Jason Clubb, Ansley Hoenigmann (Alec), Ian Jackson (Savannah) and Gavin Jackson; 19 great grandchildren; a sister, Josephine Phillips of Livingston Tenn.; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 19 at New Hope Primitive Baptist Church with burial in the New Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends starting at 10 a.m. at the church.
