Rec. Dept. Easter Egg Hunt set Sat.

Ware County Recreation Department holds its annual Easter Egg Hunt Saturday, April 19, at the Memorial Park Complex, 1300 S. Georgia Pkwy.

Registration for the free event is at 11 a.m. and the hunt starts at 11:30. There will be music, food, prizes, and an opportunity to take pictures with the Easter Bunny.

Satilla Democrats rally on democracy

Satilla Democrats will stage a “Hands Off” rally from 2 to 4 p.m., Saturday, April 19 at 1912 Memorial Drive.

The organization welcomes anyone from Ware, Pierce, Brantley, Bacon, Atkinson, Coffee, Charlton, and Clinch counties.

The group holds its next meeting at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 10 at the Waycross-Ware County Library, 401 Lee Street.

Corbett, Goodman at Ware GOP forum The Ware County Republican Party will meet at 6 p.m., Monday, April 21, at Hog ‘n’ Bones Restaurant, 1900 Memorial Drive,.

A Dutch treat meal will begin the meeting with the program at 6:30 with guest speakers, State Rep. John Corbett, District 174, and Sen. Russ Goodman, District 8. The legislators will be present a summary of the 2025 session of the Georgia Legislature.

There also will be a report of last month’s county convention and a preview of the upcoming District 1 Convention, April 26 in Savannah and the State Convention, June 6-7 in Dalton. Call/text (912) 282-5551 with questions.

Mom’s Night Out scheduled May 1 The care team at Memorial Satilla Specialists Women’s Health, 505 S. City Boulevard stages Mom’s Night Out, at 6 p.m., Thursday, May 1.

The event is free and open to the public to celebrate Women’s Health Month. Registration is required by visiting memorialsatillahealth. com/cale ndar or calling (912) 5846201.

Attendees will be able to speak with health care providers, enjoy refreshments and have a chance to win a variety of door prizes.

Library trustees change meeting The Waycross-Ware County Public Library Board of Trustees has postponed its meeting scheduled for next week.

The board now will meet at 4 p.m., Thursday May 1 at the Waycross-Ware County Public Library, 401 Lee Avenue.

OHC Folk Festival scheduled May 3 Okefenokee Heritage Center, 1460 N. Augusta Avenue, holds its second annual Okefenokee Folk Festival-Sue Clark Day from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 3.

The event is dedicated to showcasing the area’s folk ways and history during the mid-to late-nineteenth century. Proceeds benefit OHC and will aid in the preservation of local artifacts and the upkeep of historic structures.

In addition to the historical presentations, arts, crafts, and food vendors, the monthly WayGreen Local Fare Market also will be on site.

Senior dance slated May 10

The Ware County Recreation Department holds a senior citizen dance from 7 to 10 p.m., Saturday, May 10 at the Trembling Earth Complex, 2110 Cecil Brown Drive.

Doors open at 6 p.m. Cost of admission is $7 per person. There will be light refreshments, a 5050 raffle, and DJ Fred Hand playing all the oldies.

Chamber seeks hosts for events The Waycross-Ware County Chamber of Commerce is compiling its list of hosts for its Rise ‘n’ Shine and Business After Hours meetings for 2025.

Rise ‘n’ Shine is held at 7:45 a.m. and Business After Hours at 5 p.m., each once every month.
