Sorority’s debutante ball Saturday

Delta Sigma Theta presents five women for Class of 2025

The Waycross Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., holds its 2024-2025 Debutante Cotillion & Scholarship Ball at 6 p.m., Saturday, April 19 at the C.C. Mc-Cray City Auditorium, 865 Pendleton Street.

Theme for this year’s event, at which five young women will be presented, is “Crowned in Grace, Poised in Purpose,” which highlights the organization’s mission to empower young women to become leaders who combine elegance with purpose.

Tickets for the evening are $20 and $5 for those 13-under and available from sorority members.

Debutantes to be presented are:

• Lailani N’Heava Carson, daughter of LaCharla Allen & Fredrick Carson, with presenter and escort, Donovan Spears;

• KeMya Kashmere-Michelle Crowley, daughter of Beatrice & Adrian Wells and Chris Crowley, & Toronda Mack with presenter Ezra Thomas and escort Mekhi Lewis;

• T’kya Aaliyah Davis, daughter of Dedrick Davis & Chandria Carter, with presenter Dedrick Davis and escort Franklin Pinckney III;

• Artezah Ky'shell Lenise Reed, daughter of Arthur Reed Jr. & Kellee Bennett with presenter Torrance Boggs and escort Ky’Darien Bennett;

• Ty’Reona Akeelah Walker, daughter of Adarryl & Catherine Walker with presenter Adarryl Walker and escort Devin Cecil.

The 2024-25 Junior Debutante Class includes Jayla Bess, A’Zoria Scott, Amari Lewis, Rakiah Thomas, LeNiyah Reid, McKenzie Wright, Karriah Tatum, Jaleah Wade.

During the year, debutantes have participated in workshops focused on college readiness, financial literacy, public speaking, and entrepreneurship, preparing them to become confident, capable leaders.

They’ve learned about healthy college relationships, stress management, and effective communication. The group also explored vital topics like military service and social media management.

In addition to their personal development, the young women have demonstrated a strong commitment to community service. They have actively participated in events like KWAY Festival, Okefenokee Alliance for the Homeless Meal Train, Sgt. Kennedy L. Sanders 5K & Purple Fun Run, Autism Awareness Walk & Run 1K, World Health Day — Thank Our Nurses!, and Habitat for Humanity among others.

The program of growth of growth isn’t possible without community support. Donations provide scholarships and opportunities that shape the success of the participants.

Donations are tax-deductible and will be recognized during several events, gaining exposure to local families, businesses, and supporters.
