The Waycross citywide spring cleanup program moved into its third week Monday.
A refuse container is in city Commission District 3 through Sunday, April 20 for any resident’s unwanted household items.
The annual campaign began March 31 at E.E. Moore Park in District 1.
The container, which currently is in Garlington Park, will move to the remaining two districts until the cleanup concludes Sunday, May 5.
The cleanup schedule is:
• District 3: Through April 20, Garlington Park, 1501 George Street (container in park).
• District 4: April 21-27, Monroe Park, 1121 Hill Street (container behind tennis courts).
• District 5: April 28-May 5, Oakland Cemetery, 2410 Alice Street (container near water tower).
The container located in Garlington Park may move daily to accommodate improvement work underway at the facility.
Citizens don’t have to wait until their designated week to place household refuse in a container.
The receptacle, regardless of location, will be open to any resident or property owner during the campaign’s five-week period.
There is no limit on the number of times citizens can deposit items.
Among the prohibited items in the collection are tires, containers of paint, solvents, chemicals or pesticides, building materials, tree removal debris, bricks or blocks.
The city’s regular weekly program schedule for collection of yard waste and household items continues during the campaign.
Household refuse items require a call to the public works department (912) 287-2955 to schedule a time for the pickup.
