Nahunta council approves purchase of two vehicles for NPD

NAHUNTA — Nahunta’s Police Department is getting an upgrade with two new units.

City of Nahunta council members approved the purchase of two 2025 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 2WD Crew Cabs for $76,497.76 during a called meeting Tuesday, April 1.

The savings with trade-ins, discounts, rebates, incentives and Trade Tax Credit ($406) for the two vehicles totals $16,406.

Nahunta Police Chief Brad Todd made the request and presented bids for the vehicles from Vaden Automotive in Savannah.

Mayor Pro-Tem Bruce Davis made the motion to approve the purchase of two new patrol trucks utilizing the City’s surplus patrol vehicles as trade-ins. Councilman Andrew Altman seconded the motion, all in favor, motion carried by 30 vote. Crystal Johns was the other councilmember present. Councilmember Deloise Anderson was not in attendance.

The trucks retailed at $47,990 each with a $1,000 discount (MSRP) and $7,000 worth of rebates and incentives for a net cost of $39,990 apiece.

The City of Nahunta is trading in a 2008 Dodge Charger Sedan 4D (approximately 200,000o miles) and a 2015 Dodge Charger Sedan 4D (approximately 200,000o miles) with a trade amount of $1,800 for one of the units. The total cost is $39,348.88.

The city will trade in a 2008 Ford Crown Victoria Sedan 4D (approximately 200,000 miles) and a 2016 Chevrolet Tahoe Utility 4D (approximately 90,000 miles) with a trade amount of $4,000 for the second unit. The total cost is $37,148.88.

The NPD will have six units after the trade-ins and the purchase of the two new vehicles.
