WAYCROSS — Mrs. Tammy Arlene Lucas Thigpen, 64, passed away Monday, April 7, 2025 at Hospice House Satilla in Waycross following an extended
illness.
Mrs. Thigpen was born in Waycross to the late Otis Bo Lucas and Violet Mosley Lucas. She was a 1978 graduate of Brantley County High School and assistant manager of Bell Finance for 25 years.

member of Bethel Baptist Church in Blackshear.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Thigpen was also preceded in death by a daughter, Tammy Jeanette Thigpen; a brother, Eddie Aldridge; and a sister, Tonya Cason.
She is survived by her husband, Melvin Thigpen of Waycross; a daughter, Rachel Arlene Thigpen Dunaway; two grandchildren, Austin Wesley Bailey and Allie Jeanette Dunaway; a sister, Cherry Jewell (J.H.); and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Thigpen’s wishes were for her body to be donated to science.
Miller
Deborah Ann Schaefer Miller Mrs. Deborah Ann Schaefer Miller, 49, passed away Monday, April 7, 2025 at the Hospice House Satilla following a short illness.
Mrs. Miller was born in Killeen, Texas to Benny Earl Schaefer and Ruth Irene Burnell Schaefer. She was currently employed as a store manager with Friendly Express in Waycross, but had been formerly employed by Circle K as well. She also worked as a bartender at Applebee’s of Waycross for a number of years.
Mrs. Miller is survived by six children, Michael Jones of Arkansas, Crystal Jones of Arkansas, Anthony Jones of Arkansas, Kaitlan Hunt of Hoboken, Candice Hunt (Brett Stewart) of Blackshear and Heather Hunt of Blackshear; numerous grandchildren; and a brother, Ben Schaefer of Texas.
A funeral service was held Saturday, April 12, 2025 at the Music Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial followed in Oakland Cemetery.
Music Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
