A death investigation is now underway in connection to a body discovered Tuesday morning, April 8, in a pond in the area of Doris and Sinclair Roads just west of Offerman.
Sheriff Ramsey Bennett confirmed the investigation is underway and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Crime Lab has been called in to assist.
Bennett said a utility contractor working in the area noticed what he thought was a body in the pond and reported it to authorities.
Law enforcement and emergency personnel responded to the scene and the body was recovered from the pond early Tuesday afternoon, April 8.
Bennett said his office is currently awaiting positive identification of the remains.
The sheriff declined to give any additional information about the case citing the ongoing investigation.
