The Brantley County Commission honored Brantley County’s girls’ 8-under all-star team (top photo) and the Brantley County boys’ 10-under basketball teams, both who won Class C District II titles. The Lady Herons finished in a tie for third-place at the state tournament in Sandersville hosted by Washington County’s Recreation Department. Brantley County fell 24-4 to District 4 champion Temple in the semifinals. Temple lost in the championship game. The Herons traveled to Dahlonega for the state tournament hosted by the Lumpkin County Recreation Department. Brantley County knocked off District 4 champion Manchester 46-37 in the quarterfinals and District 6 champion Greene County 39-37 in the semifinals. District 1 champion Jefferson County prevailed 45-37 in the finals.
