BCHS netters sweep Wayne County

CANEY BAY — Brantley County’s tennis teams opened the 2025 season with a sweep over visiting Class 4A Wayne County.

The Lady Herons (1-0) posted a 4-1 victory Tuesday, February 4 over the Lady Yellow Jackets. The Herons overpowered the visitors with an easy 5-0 win.

A sweep of the singles action secured the Lady Herons’ opening win.

Brooklyn Wildes notched a 6-1, 6-0 victory No. 1. Raylee Strickland posted the same score (61, 6-0) at No. 2. Haley June Smith notched a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 3.

BCHS’s No. 1 doubles tandem of Jacie Riggins and Kaleigh Oakie did not finish their match. They lost the first set 6-4. The No. 2 tandem of Harlee Driggers and Bri Crews needed a third-set tiebreaker to win 6-2, 4-6, 10-8.

Brantley County completely dominated the overmatched Class 4A Yellow Jackets losing just one game.

Rohan Davis posted a 61, 6-0 at No. 1 singles. Both Jayce Chapman and Owen Spradley rolled 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 and No. 3.

Both doubles matches also ended with 6-0, 6-0 decisions. The No. 1 team consisted of Evan Payne and Jeff Florey with the No. 2 duo formed by Dalton Howell and Ryan Saunders.
