Glenn Davis, 78 died Monday evening, January 13, 2025 at Ascension St. Vincents Riverside Center in Jacksonville, Fla., following an extended illness.
Davis was a native of Waycross and had lived all of his life in Ware and Brantley Counties. He was the son of the late Reason Davis and Mary Magdalene Smith Davis.
He was also preceded in death by two sons, Charles “Chuckie” Davis and Greg Bagley; a daughter, Darlene Ruiz; a sister, Betty Aldridge; and a brother, Jimmy Davis.
Davis served with the United States Army in Viet Nam and also had been stationed in Korea and Germany. He earned the rank of Sargeant during his service.
Davis was formerly employed as assistant production manager with Pepsi Cola Bottling Company and also with General Box Company in the laminating department.
He was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, the Senior Adult Sunday School Class and had served with the Benevolence Committee. Davis was also an avid hunter and fisherman and was a member of the Pleasant Valley Hunting Club.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Beatrice Guy Davis of Waycross; two sons, Joey Davis (wife Heather) of Bowing Green, Ky., and David Bagley of Pensacola, Fla.; two daughters, Kathy Thrift (late husband Eddie) of Hickox and Lisa Kersey (husband Rocky) of Atkinson; 15 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; two brothers, Mark Davis of Waycross and Ronnie Davis of Alma; a son-in-law, Leo Ruiz of Amarosa, Iowa; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A graveside service was held Thursday, January 16, 2025 in Thomas Cemetery in Brantley County.
