Eighth-ranked Ware County rolled to a pair of Region 1-AAAA victories during the week recording a massacre of visiting New Hampstead and taking down Perry on the road.
The Lady Gators (16-3 overall, 2-1 region) recorded its most lopsided victory under head coach Mandy Lingenfelter with an 81-2 victory against overmatched Lady Phoenix (2-10, 0-3) Tuesday, January 7. The win was the 16th consecutive at home for Ware County dating back to last season.
The Lady Gators had little trouble on the road Friday, January 10 in beating the Lady Panthers (11-4, 1-1) 57-41. The loss was Perry’s third in four games following an eight-game winning streak.
Ware County traveled Tuesday (January 14) to Jesup to face Wayne County (10-5, 0-1). Current third-ranked and unbeaten region leader Warner Robins (16-0, 2-0) visits Saturday, January 18 for a 3 p.m. tip.
The Lady Gators travel Tuesday, January 21 to face New Hampstead. They will host Perry on Senior Night Friday, January 24.

Eleven players scored four points or better in Ware County’s domination of the Lady Phoenix.
The Lady Gators did not allow a point until the final “mercy rule” period while building a 60-0 advantage through three quarters.
Ware County led 28-0 after the opening period and 46-0 at intermission after an 18-0 run in the second quarter. Up 600 heading into the fourth period, the Lady Gators outscored New Hampstead 21-2 for the 79-point victory.
Promise Cooper’s basket in the fourth was the only shot to find the nylon. She also missed all three Lady Phoenix free throw attempts with the first two coming in the third stanza.
Lydia Munford (two treys) scored 10 of her 14 points (all in first half) in the opening period. A’Treasure White finished with a season-best 10 points.
Shardell Vickers and Rhianna Mateyka scored nine and eight points respectively. Kyra McKelvin and Larissa Revis (trey) finished with seven points apiece.
Charmaine Farrell (trey) and Bre Hill bagged six points each. Skyy Green and Bailey Denton (trey) each netted five points. Molly Smith contributed three points.
The Lady Gators held a 31-1 two-point field goals made advantage, had a 5-0 advantage from beyond the arc, and was 4-of-6 compaired to 0-of-3 from the free throw line.

The Lady Gators raced out to an 18-5 working margin in the first period and were never headed. A 17-14 scoring advantage in the second stanza extended Ware County’s lead to 35-19 at halftime.
Each team scored 22 points in the second half. Perry outpointed the Lady Gators 13-9 in the third quarter with Ware County returning the favor over the final eight minutes.
Mateyka (trey) led nine Lady Gators in the scoring column with 16 points. Munford (three threes) scored nine of her 11 points in the first period.
McKelvin, Vickers and Hill contributed six points apiece. White netted four points whil Alexis McNeal and Denton (trey) bagged three points each. Revis chipped in two points.
Perry’s Anna Dean (four treys) scored a game-high 18 points. Kennedi Miller netted 10 points.
