The Gates hosts multiple events in January The Gates, the Gathering Place, will host Worship 1:20 The Experience, Praise, Prophecy, Power January 4, 11, 19 and 26.

The launch will be at 1:20 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 4 and Jan. 11 with Gospel in the Park.

Worship services will be at 1:20 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 19 and Sunday, Jan. 26, with lunch to follow at 2:30 p.m.

The Rev. Charles Vaughn, Minister Tiffany McCaster, Minister Patty Collins and recording artist Dr. Deborah Brown will be featured.

KidzZone and Empowerment will be available for ages preschool to elementary.

New Year Toy Giveaway will be given to the first 50 kids from 1:30-3 p.m. Jan. 4. Free food box and care packets will be distributed Sunday, Jan. 19 and every third Sunday.

Twelve worship flags and dancers are needed for the 1:20 p.m. Jan. 4 grand opening worship service. Dancers are open to ages 11-adult. We will rehearse and teach you. Volunteers are needed for hospitality, KidzZone, media, photography and set up.

The Gates is located at 6014 Homestead Road, Blackshear.

Masterbuilders

The 23rd anniversary of Missionary Ardrelle Myles Sutton and The Masterbuilders Ministry will be held Sunday, January 12. The Service will begin at 3:30 p.m. at the St. John Missionary Baptist Church, 103 North Street, Douglas. Bishop Johnnie Beveritt will be the speaker. There will be a candlelight memorial service. Everyone is cordially invited.

The Rev. Bobby Harris is the host pastor.

Kingsville Cemetery

Kingsville Cemetery near Offerman needs financial help for exp a n s i o n and upkeep.

The cemetery, located off of Gardenia Drive near Mossy Pond Retrievers, is the community’s historic African-American burying ground.

Donations are being sought to maintain the cemetery and to complete site preparation for an expansion.

Donations for the Kingsville Cemetery project can be mailed to Charles Bailey, 6475 Gardenia Drive, Patterson, GA 31557 or to Annie Eckles Harris, 3433 Columbia Court, Decatur, GA 30032.

Foster/Clay Hill Cemetery

Efforts are underway to organize an upkeep/maintenance plan for the Foster/Clay Hill Cemetery near Offerman in Pierce County.

Those who have relatives buried there are asked to join to improve the clean up and maintenance situation at the cemetery.

Families buried there include Wasdin, Winn, Kelly, Cason, Tyre, Thornton, Brauda, Boyette and others. Those interested in organizing a committee to care for the cemetery are asked to call Carla Mellott at (904) 704-3344
