Former resource officer detained for family violence

Former school resource officer Christopher Andrews Hackett has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault.

Hackett, 47, was arr ested Sunday, Dec. 8, and charged with felony - aggravated ass ault, cruelty to children first degree, misdemeanor - simple assault; and battery - family violence (first offense).

According to the incident report, Hackett allegedly assaulted a family member with his hands/fists at his home in Pierce County At 8:43 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7.

The victim had visible injuries, but was not taken for treatment.

The report indicated alcohol/ other drugs played a role in the incident.

Hackett fled the home and was later arrested by Waycross Police Department and later returned to Pierce County to face charges.

Sheriff's Deputy Colene Thrift and Deputy Bryce Edwards investigated the incident.

Hackett is currently being held in the Pierce County Jail.
