Christine Henderson, Robert Koon, and Tim McKinney (center) from the Volunteer Transportation Network were guest speakers last month at a weekly luncheon meeting of the Waycross Exchange Club. The VTN uses donated vans to transport Veterans that have no other means of transportation to and from their appointments at Veterans Administration medical centers. Koon said, “There's no ifs, ands, or buts about it, it’s a commitment ... Making that trek is not just a couple of hours, it could be eight hours or more.” Many veterans wouldn’t get the help they need without dedicated volunteer drivers, the trio said.
