Candidate says city leadership doing well

District 1 City Commission candidate Jené Walker, who lives with her 85-year-old mother, attended a volunteer meeting at City Hall Thursday, October 3.

“The power has been out and we lost all of our food,” she said. “I started cooking out on the grill to salvage our meat.” Walker has been checking on members of her community and offering help. “I think it’s important that we work with the city manager (Ulysses ‘Duke’ Rayford),” said Walker. “The (city) leadership is doing extremely well. I don’t think they could have anticipated this level of disaster. I think they’re doing a great job executing the plan the city manager had in place.”
