Library holds bookbinding event

Library holds bookbinding event

Pierce County Public Library Manager Lavonnia Moore recently introduced (l-r) Kristina Mascarena-Davis, Alyssa Thompson, Michelle Thompson, Lorelai Thompson, Kaitlyn Vernon and Karin Merritt (not pictured) to the creative art of bookbinding. Needle, thread, thimble, a 'bone', awl and clips used in place of book press all go into creating handcrafted books. Moore explained the various terms and techniques of the process, including making sure to properly format your writing before printing it. The attendees did a Japanese binding, which only requires paper, thread and a decorative cover. This event was one of many creative Thursday night arts and crafts hosted at the Pierce County Public Library.
