First Baptist Church feeds the hungry in the calm after the storm

A busy group of volunteers at First Baptist Church of Blackshear (FBC) pause for a photo. Pictured (l-r) are Matt Lee, Billy and Janet Taylor, Brenda Bennett, Darryl Strickland, James Bennett, Jenna Herrin, Candi Lee, Cat Wheeler, Pastor Justin Gambrell, Steve Boatright and Carolyn Still, part of a larger crew all working together to provide fresh meals during the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. Over Saturday and Sunday evening, FBC served a combined total of 1,600 meals to area residents left without power by the historic storm. “All kinds of people have donated food,” said Pastor Justin Gambrell, “We've had help from lots of people in the community.”
