Malcolm L. Braddy, Sr.

VIDALIA, Ga. — Malcolm L. Braddy, Sr., 93, of Vidalia, Ga., died Wednesday morning, February 1, 2023 at Memorial Health Meadows in Vidalia after a brief illness.

Mr. Braddy was born in Vidalia to the late Harvey Braddy and Meda Morris Braddy, and made Waycross his home for many years. He was a talented horticulturist who soaked up knowledge about pecan farming. His passion for farming led him to work and retire from Goldkist as a farm manager.

After his retirement, he opened his own firm, 3M Farm that served farmers all over the southeast. He invented the pecan shelling plant and at one time managed pecan farms all over South Georgia and Alabama. His work in procurement and management of pecan farming set the groundwork that farmers still use today.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margie James Braddy, and a sister, Melba McDaniel.

Mr. Braddy is survived by his son, Malcolm Braddy, Jr. of Waycross; a niece Peggy Nolan; a nephew, Mark McDaniel; and numerous other family.

A funeral service was held Saturday February 4 in the Miles-Odum Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Oakland Cemetery. The family received friends prior to the service at the funeral home.

Sympathy may be expressed by signing online at www.milesodumfuneralhome.com

Miles-Odum Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
