MILLWOOD — Mrs. Cheryl Melinda Murray, 68, passed away Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, Fla., following an extended illness.
Mrs. Murray was born in Waycross to the late William Arley Griffis and Rose Marie Carter Parrish. She was a former bus driver for the Ware County Board of Education and attended Cornerstone Church in Pearson.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Murray also was preceded in death by a sister, Sheila Peplinski.
Mrs. Murray is survived by her husband, Clayton Murray of Millwood; a daughter, Barbara McCrae of Waycross; two grandchildren, Tiffany Johnson of Valdosta and Kentavious Hall of Waycross; four stepchildren, George Murray (Angel) of Millwood, Tammy Otts (Tony) of Waycross, Lashonda Crews of Millwood, and Lesiska James (Raymond) of Manor; numerous step grandchildren; a sister, Lucetta Murray of Millwood; a brother, Dewayne “Bear” Griffis of Fargo; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at noon today (Saturday, August 12) at the Music Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial will follow at Indian Mound Cemetery in Millwood.
