Mattie Roselyn Durrance Lovell, 78, of Blackshear, passed away Tuesday morning, September 27, 2022, at her residence following a strong, determined and courageous battle against an illness that never took her humor or joy of life away. She passed exactly seven years to the day that her first born son, Danny, went to be with the Lord.
Born January 17, 1944, in Alma, she was a daughter of the late Harley and Iris Taylor Durrance Courson. She lived most of her life in Bacon and Pierce Counties and was a “jack of all trades”. She had worked as a seamstress in a local sewing factory and in the mental health field in Ware County but spent most of her life as a self-employed florist. She had owned the Dodge City Flower Shop, Flowers on Morningside and retired as the owner of Johnson’s Florist.
She was a longtime member of Shady Grove Baptist Church where she attended the Senior Adult Sunday School Class, had been a former Sunday School Teacher, served on the Building Committee, Chairwoman of the WMU and other church committees.
