Are you ready to fall back?

It’s time for a time change again.

Clocks return to standard time at 2 a.m., Sunday November 1, so clocks should be set back one hour at that time. The majority of the nation has been on daylight time since March 8. Congress took up the issue again this summer, but adjourned for the fall without action to end the twice-yearly time change.

Despite the urging of President Donald Trump and growing public support for ending clock changes, lawmakers have yet to send the Sunshine Protection Act to the president’s desk. Trump favors the nation remaining on daylight time.

Local fire chiefs also encourage residents to use the time change to check and/or replace the batteries in their smoke detectors.

The Uniform Time Act of 1966, signed by President Lyndon B. Johnson, established the framework for daylight saving time in the United States.
