Pitts
WAYCROSS — Mrs. Dovie Haynes Pitts, 95, of Waycross, died early Sunday morning, October 18, 2026, at the Hospice Satilla Hospice House after an extended illness.
She was born in Anniston, Ala., to the late Robert Noah Haynes and Della Mae McFarland Haynes.
Mrs. Pitts had made Waycross her home for much of her life where she worked in the lunchroom at Memorial Drive Elementary School and as a nursing aide at Baptist Village Retirement Communities. She will forever be remembered as a beloved and loving wife, mother and aunt.
Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her first husband, Garris Keels; her second husband, Grady Lewis Pitts; three sisters, Magdalene Haynes, Ruth Warfield, and Naomi Freeman; and one brother, Howard Haynes.
Mrs. Pitts is survived by her son, Garry Keels of Waycross; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A funeral service was held October 21 in the Miles-Odum Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed October 22 at Cottageville Cemetery in Cottageville, S.C.
