DeShazo
UNDATED — Judy De-Shazo, age 78, was a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother and great grandmother, and a woman whose life was marked by love, dedication, and service to her country and community.
Mrs. DeShazo proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam era. Following her military service, Mrs. DeShazo continued to serve our nation through a distinguished career in federal civil service with the United States Army. She retired as an Ammunition Manager at Anniston Army Depot. Her career included extended overseas assignments in Germany and Italy, where she supported the Army’s mission with dedication.
Even after retiring from federal civil service, Mrs. DeShazo commitment to serving others continued. She went on to work as a credentialist at Waycross Hospital. Her willingness to continue working and contributing after retirement reflected her strong work ethic, generous spirit, and lifelong desire to make a difference in the lives of others.
While Judy took great pride in her military service and professional accomplishments, her greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted wife and mother whose love extended across generations. To her grandchildren and great grandchildren, she was lovingly known as “Mimi,” a name that held a special place in the hearts of those who loved her.
She is survived by her beloved husband, James C. DeShazo Jr.; her children, Jerry Schreiner, Misti Flomer, and Sy Schreiner II; her grandchildren, Raven Li, Robin Flomer, Meagan Schreiner, Caleb Schreiner, Kylie Spackman, Layden Schreiner, Cole Cox, Alex Schreiner, Paul Flomer II, and Cooper Schreiner; and her great-grandchildren, Maya Li, Gabriel Li, and Beau Spackman.
Mrs. DeShazo leaves behind a remarkable legacy of strength, service, and unconditional love. She served her country with honor, devoted her professional life to supporting those who defend our freedom, and gave her heart to the family she loved so dearly.
Although her passing Friday, October 23, leaves an emptiness in the hearts of those who knew and loved her, her family finds comfort in the promise of eternal life. Mrs. DeShazo’s earthly struggles are over, and she is now at peace in the loving presence of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Her legacy will live on through the family she cherished, the lives she touched, and the generations who will carry her love and memory forward. As a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, veteran, and dedicated public servant, Mrs. DeShazo lived a life worthy of remembrance and gratitude.
