The Exchange Club of Waycross recently welcomed Heather Flowers of Magnolia House, who shared the mission of an organization dedicated to providing safety, healing, and hope to individuals and families affected by domestic violence.
Magnolia House, also known as the Waycross Area Shelter for Abused Persons, serves six Southeast Georgia counties — Ware, Pierce, Brantley, Bacon, Charlton, and Coffee.
The organization provides emergency shelter, crisis intervention, emotional support, legal advocacy, and resources to help survivors regain their independence and rebuild their lives.
Flowers, who serves as the Waycross Family Justice Center Site Coordinator, helped bring attention to the importance of having a safe place for individuals who may feel trapped, frightened, or unsure of where to turn.
One of the organization’s significant accomtransfer plishments is the establishment of the Waycross Family Justice Center, which opened in 2024. The center brings multiple agencies and community partners together under one roof, allowing survivors to access assistance ranging from legal services and counseling to housing resources and family support.
This collaborative approach helps remove barriers for individuals already facing incredibly difficult circumstances.
The work of Magnolia House also highlights the importance of community involvement. Through awareness, education, partnerships and continued support, local citizens and organizations can play a meaningful role in helping break the cycle of violence.
For the members of the Exchange Club of Waycross, an organization committed to strengthening families and preventing child abuse, the mission of Magnolia House closely reflects the importance of protecting the most vulnerable members of our community.
Because sometimes, changing a life begins with simply making sure someone knows they are not alone.
