WAYCROSS — With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the passing of Mrs. JoAnn Lloyd McQuaig, 91, on Sunday morning, October 11, 2026, at Memorial Satilla Health.

Mrs. McQuaig lived a full life, marked by grit, a sharp wit, and a spirit all her own. She had an unmatched green thumb and a kitchen that always smelled like Sunday dinner. She taught us to cherish sister trips, family gatherings, and days spent fishing.

More than anything, “Nana” loved her family. She showed that love through the meals she prepared, the care she gave, and the life she built alongside her beloved husband, Ronnie. She will be deeply missed and remembered forever.

Mrs. McQuaig was born September 4, 1935, in Ware County to the late Madison Henry Lloyd, Sr. and Nora Louise Popham Lloyd. She was a lifelong member of Kettle Creek Church.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Sheriff Ronnie H. McQuaig; daughter, Denise Counts and son inlaw, W.D. (Bill) Counts; sisters, Frances Rhodenberry, Lucille Petty, Dorothy Dekle, Marion Music, Sandra Henderson, Janice Hendrix, and Susan Hendrix; and brothers, Madison Henry “Hank” Lloyd, Jr., Harold Vernon Lloyd, Ray L. Lloyd, and William David Lloyd.

Survivors include her daughters, Donna Arnold Taylor (Kenny) of Waycross, Deanna Arnold Carroll (Ken) of Phoenix, Ariz., and Cindy McQuaig Fredericks (Dale) of Waycross; grandchildren, Joey Taylor, Nick Carroll (Bronte), Kyle Gunter (Gabby), Kristina Lara, and Britney Hubacher (Andrew); great grandchildren, Jaina Taylor (Dyson Lee), Austi Taylor (Taylor Hinson), RaileyJo Taylor, Gavyn Taylor, Kynzee Tyson, Axel Lara, and Emersyn Gunter; great-great grandchild, Emmy Kate Hinson; her sister, Pansy Cox of Waycross; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was held October 16 at the Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Kettle Creek Cemetery.

Sympathy may be expressed by posting to her tribute wall at www.musicfuneralhome. com.
