Ware County’s Board of Assessors recently recognized Nathaniel Houseal for more than two decades of dedicated service to the county’s property assessment system and the broader community.
Houseal served 24 years on the Board of Assessors, including as chairman from January 2004 through December 2018. He began his board service in 2001.
During a presentation of a commemorative plaque, Chief Appraiser Billy Carter, a colleague and longtime associate, noted the two started their board journey together the same year, and described Houseal as a professional mentor and friend. “On behalf of the Ware County Board of Assessors, it’s my great honor to recognize and express our sincere appreciation to Nathaniel Houseal for his many years of dedicated service to the citizens of Ware County,” Carter said. “For 24 years, Mr. Houseal faithfully served on the Ware County Board of Assessors, chairing the board from January of 2004 until December of 2018. Throughout those years, he gave his time, knowledge, and commitment to serving our community.”
The recognition also highlighted Houseal’s broader record of service. He spent 25 years in a career with UPS and devoted 15 years to mentoring students in the Ware County School System. Carter described the combination of board leadership, workplace commitment, and youth mentoring as reflecting a lifetime of hard work and contribution.
“When we look at 24 years of service on the Board of Assessors, 25 years with UPS, and 15 years mentoring our youth, we see much more than a list of accomplishments. We see a lifetime dedicated to hard work, leadership, mentorship, and service to others,” Carter said. “Mr. Houseal, your dedication to Ware County is appreciated far more than these few words can express. The impact you have made on this community will continue to be felt for years to come.”
