BRANTLEY County — Mrs. Barbara Jean Cox, 84, passed away Saturday, October 17, 2026 at her residence in Brantley County.
Mrs. Cox was born May 23, 1942 in Waycross to the late Rubin Russell Dixon and Lula Agnes Thomas Dixon. She was a lifelong member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church.
She was self-employed as a hairdresser for 70 years. Mrs. Cox enjoyed singing in the church choir and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Cameron Allen Cox; and special cousin, Rufus Thrift (Ann).
Survivors include her children, Gregory Allen Cox and Cheryl Lynn Clerc, both of Waycross; grandchildren, Korey Allen Cox, Bryce Lee Evans, Drew Christopher Dowling, Olivia Kamryn Cox Clerc and Mandy Raulerson; great grandchildren, Sophia Lynn Cox, Brenna Jean Cox, Skylar Leah Cox, Daniel Allen Cox and Nova Leigh Evans; her sister, Carolyn Tatum (husband Glenn); special cousin, Nancy Thrift and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held Tuesday morning, October 20, 2026 at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church.
Burial followed in Greenlawn Cemetery.
