There are a lot of dangerous things in this world. We recognize the dangers of reckless driving, ignoring medical problems and failing to heed important warnings. But there is another danger that often goes unnoticed. It is something most of us have been guilty of at one time or another. I'm talking about the danger of delay.
We live in a world where it's easy to put things off. We postpone going to the doctor, starting a diet, exercising, making home repairs or taking care of vehicle maintenance. We delay paying bills, making important decisions, having difficult conversations and asking for forgiveness. We intend to visit someone, spend more time with family or call an old friend, but somehow never get around to it. We convince ourselves there will always be another opportunity.
Sometimes procrastination creates nothing more than an inconvenience. Other times, it can cost us something that can never be recovered. How many people have looked back with regret and said, “I wish I hadn't waited”?
