BEARVILLE — Pierce County’s 10th-ranked Lady Bears volleyball team captured the Region 3-AAA volleyball tournament title here Saturday with victories over Tattnall County and Islands.

The Lady Bears (28-10) knocked off the fifth-seed Lady Warriors sweeping the best-of-five semifinal pairing 25-9, 25-10, 25-10.

PCHS followed with a 25-23, 25-17, 25-20 victory over the No.2-seed Lady Sharks in the championship match.

“All season we have been able to play all 15 players a good amount,” said head coach Robbie Spires. “We were able to do that versus Tattnall also. Islands jumped on us early in the first set, but we were able to regroup and fight back. That continued the rest of the match.”

Pierce County awaits the release of the brackets today (Wednesday, October 14) by the Georgia High School Association (GHSA) to see who its first round opponent will be. The state tournament’s best-of-five begins Saturday, October 17.
