BEARVILLE — Pierce County’s Isabella Marx, Ansley Hutcheson and head coach Robbie Spires captured individual Region 3-AAA accolades after the 10th-ranked Lady Bears captured the regular season region top seed and followed with Saturday's region championship.
Marx, a senior outside hitter, was named the Player of the Year in voting by the region’s coaches prior to the October 10 tournament held on the PCHS campus. Hutcheson, also a senior playing setter, was tabbed the Offensive Player of the Year.
Spires, the architect of the Lady Bears’ five-year-old program, led the Lady Bears to their first-ever unbeaten region slate and a fifth consecutive 20-plus win season in capturing the Region Coach of the Year honor.
Pierce County had three players named First Team All-Region. The trio includes freshman middle hitter Mollie Carter, freshman outside hitter Zayleigh Raithel and junior outside hitter Azalea Mobley.
Four Lady Bears received Second Team All-Region honors. Those four were junior libero Gracie Brewer, senior setter Daisy Thigpen, sophomore outside hitter Nyiah Jackson and senior defensive specialist Heidi Hodges.
