(The Patterson City Council discussed and/or voted on the following items during their monthly meeting Thursday, September 10.)

Service delivery strategy: The council voted to approve a new service delivery strategy plan for planning and code inspections. The new plan is required to be updated since the City of Blackshear has withdrawn from the Joint Planning Commission. Blackshear announced earlier this year it would begin doing its own planning and code inspections. City and county governments are required by state law to service delivery strategy plans and to update them every five years. The plan is aimed at avoiding duplication of services and must be updated any time there is a change in services the governments provide. Interim County Manager Thomas Sauls and County Clerk Donna Golding were present at the meeting. Sauls gave an overview of the updated plan prior to the council vote.

Budget and millage rate for 2027: Mayor Dedi Thomas announced Patterson’s proposed budget for 2027 is $892,300 and the millage rate is 7.235 mills, down from 7.907 this year. He commended the city council and city staff for great management and leadership.
