NAHUNTA — City of Nahunta officials made a motion to accept the FY2026 millage rate during Monday night’s meeting a couple of hours before being informed the numbers to set it were incorrect.

The council had elected to go with the rollback of 12.485, slightly lower than the 2025 rollback of 12.494 on a motion by Councilwoman Crystal Johns and a second by Councilman Andrew Altman. The motion carried 3-0.

It was also stated that the taxes from last year totaled $442,487.00. This year there is now an increase of $49,306, but City Clerk Angie Wirth assured the council the increase had nothing to do with Mayor Marty Lee and council raising the taxes.
