Leslie Kay Cormier McClain

Leslie Kay Cormier McClain, 81, passed away Saturday, October 10, 2026, at her residence in Waycross following a short illness.
She was born in Tylertown, Mississippi, to the late Ernest Cormier and Linnie Mae Breeland Cormier and grew up in Kenner, Louisiana. She graduated from Riverdale High School, an all-girls school, in 1964. Following high school, she performed clerical work at Tulane Medical Center. She had called the Forks of the Hurricane in Pierce County home for the past 43 years. A beloved member of Beulah Baptist Church since 1984, she faithfully taught Sunday School and served as an active WMU leader, as well as working with the nursery, GA’s and RA’s. From 1999 until her retirement, she served as director of the Pierce County Senior Center for 16 years, where she formed many lasting friendships. A Cajun girl at heart, she especially enjoyed a good low country boil with crabs, crawfish and shrimp. Above all, she loved God, her husband, her children, and her church family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, John Herrington and Elliot Hingle.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Larry Gerald McClain Sr., of Waycross; four children, Leslie Paige Rosengren (Matthew),  Stuttgart, Germany, Lisa Kay Woods (Chad), Waycross, Leah McClain James, Grenada, Mississippi and Larry “Gerald” McClain Jr. (Morgan), the Republic of Korea; six grandchildren,  Caroline Woods, Tanner Moring, Byron Rosengren, Mac Moring, Tripp McClain and Jessie McClain; and two sisters, Ernestine Herrington, Sugar Land, Texas and Janice Hingle, Metairie, Louisiana.
Visitation will be from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, at the Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery in Pierce County.
