Georgia Lee Jones Todd

Georgia Lee Jones Todd, 83, passed away Saturday, October 10, 2026, at her residence in Waycross, following a short illness.
She was born in the Schlatterville Community of Brantley County to the late Edward Benjamin “E.B.” Jones Sr. and Georgia Lee Jones. She devoted many years to education, serving as a teacher assistant in the Waycross and Ware County school systems before retiring as a receptionist from Ware County High School in 2006. She also worked for the school district while living in Fort Campbell, Kentucky, and was employed by Bank South in Waycross for several years. A military wife in every sense of the word, she took pride in keeping everything organized and in order. She was known for her sage advice, often delivered with the kind of humor and straightforward wisdom that could have made her a natural in a Progressive Insurance commercial. She also had a deep love of music and treasured her record collection.
She was a member of AARP, the Georgia Retired Educators Association, and the Waycross-Ware County Retired Educators Association. Her love of family, her organized nature, and her willingness to share a bit of wisdom made her someone others could always count on for advice, whether they asked for it or not.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy Capers; a granddaughter, Evann Michelle Todd; two sisters, Carol Chancey and Louise Justice; three brothers, Edward B. “Eddy” Jones Jr., Sammy Jones and Perry Jones and four brothers-in-law, John Henry Justice, Hobson Chancey, Jimmie Deal and Richard Thrift.
Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Sam Linton Todd, Waycross; four children, Michael Todd (Holley), Gregory Todd (Darlene) and Karen Gray (Donnie), all of Waycross and Randall Todd (Jay), Jacksonville, Florida; 15 grandchildren, Marsha Waters, Renay Murray (Paulo), Crystal Baker, Carla Waters, Ethan Todd (Elizabeth), Aaron Todd (Cassidy), Abigail Steverson (Chris), Morgan Reagan (Justin), Patrick Todd (Hailee), Garrett Todd, Christopher Walker, Erica Walker, Destinee Taylor (fiancé Alex), David Todd and Natalie Todd; 14 great-grandchildren, Kaila Verduft Redding (Fletcher), Anaya Dunning, Cassidy Walker, Kaydence Walker, Cyle Smith, Allison Smith, Koah Todd, Jade Denton, Swayze Denton, Michael Henry Steverson, Gabriel Scott Steverson, Jameson Reagan, Maddie Reagan and Remington Reagan; three sisters, Nancy Thrift, Yulee, Florida, Susie Deal, Bristol and Margaret Roberts (Billy), Hoboken and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, October 17, at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 17, from the chapel of Music Funeral Home with Elder Jason Deal officiating.
Interment will follow in the High Bluff Cemetery in Brantley County.
