BLACKSHEAR — BLACKSHEAR - Eddie “BoBo” Rudolph Head, 85, of Blackshear, went home to be with his Lord and Savior early Wednesday morning, September 30, 2026, surrounded by family members after a courageous 16-month battle with cancer.
Head, born September 17, 1941 in the one-time Bluehaven Community in Patterson, was the son of the late Eddie Eugene “Gene” and Merle Altman Head. He was also preceded in death by his oldest brother, Lawton Eugene “Junior” Head; his sister, Sheila Aline Head Lovett; his mother- and father-in-law, Lewis and Eula Mae Dixon; two sisters- in law, Linda Head and Judy Head; a nephew, Daylon Head; a niece, Charley Dixon; a daughter- in-law, Diane Head; and his best friend, Stanford Baggs.
Head was a member of Beulah Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and Sunday School director before stepping down due to his illness.
He was a servant of the Lord, visiting with church members. Head was very respected by his church family, as well as Pierce Countians. He never met a stranger and made everyone comfortable with his personable persona.
Head worked for Pet Dairy in Waycross for 30 years before it closed. He drove for Gillis Brothers for many years finally retiring in 2024.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Geraldine Head of Blackshear; three sons and daughtersin- law, Rick and Sandy Head of Blackshear, Duane and Del Head of Blackshear, and Tim and Bridget Head of Adel, Ga.; five grandchildren, Andon (Morgan) Head of Blackshear, Whitnei Head of Valdosta, E.J. (Lora) Head of Blackshear, Taylor (Salim) McCoy of Brooklyn, New Jersey, Tyler (Brandon) Chapman of Milledgeville, Ga.; five step grandchildren; nine great grandchildren, Madison, Aydon, Matthew, Ayla, Maelee, Ryker Head, all of Blackshear, Rylee and Greyson Head of Jacksonville, Fla.; step great grandson, Andrew Davis of Blackshear; nine step great grandchildren; a brother, Danny Head of Commerce, Ga.; a brother-inlaw and sister-in-law, Gene and Joy Dixon of Waycross; a brother-inlaw, Ellis Lovett, Sr., of Blackshear; nieces, Kay (Shane) of Millen, Ga., and Anita Head of Virginia; nephews, Ellis (Michelle) Lovett, Jr. of Loganville, Ga., Kevin (Tracey) Head of Commerce and Sam Head of Blackshear; a niece-inlaw, Cindy Taylor; numerous great nieces and great nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
A funeral service was held October 3 with Pastor Loran Bryant and Rev. Don Patterson officiating.
Burial followed in the Beulah Baptist Church cemetery.
Pallbearers were his son, Tim Head; grandsons, Andon Head and E.J. Head; nephews, Ellis Lovett, Kevin Head and Travis Head; and great grandsons, Aydon Head and Matthew Head Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Beaulah Baptist Senior Sunshine Class.
