Pierce County completed a three-game perfect week with a road win and Region 3-AAA twinbill sweep at home.
The sixth-ranked Lady Bears (19-6 overall, 7-4 region) opened the week with a 6-3 victory Monday, September 28 in Lyons against Robert Toombs Christian Academy (12-13).
Pierce County followed sweeping a twinbill against regionmate Islands (8-12, 0-10) stretching the Lady Sharks’ losing streak to seven games. PCHS won the opener 17-0 in four innings. The Lady Bears posted a 15-1 victory in the nightcap.
PCHS was scheduled to host Glynn Academy Monday, October 5 in the regular season home finale. The Lady Bears traveled Tuesday, October 6 to Homerville to face Class A ninth-ranked Clinch County. Pierce County visits Brantley County Thursday in the season finale.

LYONS — An error on a one-out sacrifice bunt scored the go-ahead run giving the Lady Bears a 43 lead en route to turning back Robert Toombs Christian Academy.
PCHS scored three times in the first inning. Lanie Mai (1-for-3) opened the game with a single and stole second (four thefts for game). After Kaylee Figueroa was hit by a oneout pitch, the two executed a double steal with Mai swiping home for a 1-0 lead.
Parker Sinclair (1-for-3) lined a run-scoring single for a 2-0 lead. Courtesy runner Sophia White scored from second on an error off a ball hit by Shelby Braddy extending the margin to 3-0.
The home team evened the score in the second inning with a three-run rally against Bailey Barboza (5 IP, 7 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 3 K, 3 BB, 1 WP).
After taking a 4-3 lead, the Lady Bears added single runs in the fourth and seventh for the final margin.
White worked the final two innings walking one.

BEARVILLE — PCHS backed Barboza’s four-inning, one-hit shutout scoring four runs or more three times in beating the Lady Sharks.
Barboza fanned six and faced one batter over the minimum. She needed 43 pitches to finish what she started.
The Lady Bears scored four times in their first at bat, three coming on two of Islands’ nine errors. Mai (2-for-3) scored when Childers’ ground ball was booted. Childers eventually scored on a passed ball for a 2-0 lead.
A third error on a fly ball hit by Coldren’s fly ball scored the final two runs of the inning..
PCHS extended the margin to 9-0 in the third inning. Braddy’s (2-for-3) one-out solo homer, her first of the year, was followed by four consecutive walks upping the lead to 60. After a wild pitch plated a run, Mai doubled home two before the final two outs were recorded.
The Lady Bears put the game away with an eightrun fourth building a 17-0 lead. Pierce County sent 11 batters to the plate. The first two runs scored on the first of five consecutive fielding errors, two more scored on a three-base miscue and another on an error pushing the lead to 14-0.
Childers swiped home for a 15-0 advantage. A Caren Drew (1-for-1) pinch-hit single drove home the final two runs.

BEARVILLE — The Lady Bears scored 15 runs over the first two innings en route to completing the doubleheader sweep of Islands.
PCHS exploded for eight runs in its first trip to the plate with 11 batters taking turns to hit. Figueroa (2for-3) blasted a one-out, 10-pitch, two-run homer, her seventh of the season and the first of two roundtrippers in the game. Figueroa fouled off eight pitches in the at bat including the first five she saw.
A Braddy (1-for-1) double followed Sinclair (2for-3) reaching on an error. Both scored on a two-base error. Davis stole third and home for a 5-0 advantage.
Mai lifted a bases loaded sacrifice fly. After a double steal, Childers (2for-3) drove in the final two runs.
PCHS plated seven runs in the bottom of the second sending 12 batters to the plate. Drew (1-for-1) knocked in the first run with a one-out, bases loaded infield hit.
Mai delivered a two-out, bases loaded single scoring all three base runners extending the lead to 12-1. A Childers’ single followed with Figueroa launching a three-run homer the margin to 15-1.
Braddy pitched a 1-2-3 third inning fanning two to close out the game.
