NAHUNTA — Georgia Power has stepped up with a $25,000 donation in support of the ongoing recovery efforts following the Highway 82 Wildfires.

Brantley County Family Connection, on behalf of the Brantley County Long-Term Recovery Group, would like to express its sincere appreciation for the generous donation.

Since the wildfires began April 21, 2026, individuals, families, community organizations, businesses, and partner agencies have worked together to address the immediate and long-term needs of those affected. While tremendous progress has been made, recovery continues as families work toward rebuilding their homes and restoring stability in their lives.

“Support from community partners like Georgia Power is invaluable to our recovery efforts,” said Dawn Deen, Executive Director of Brantley County Family Connection. “This generous donation represents more than financial assistance—it is a reminder to the families affected by the Highway 82 Wildfires that they have not been forgotten and that our community and partners remain committed to walking alongside them throughout the recovery process.” Georgia Power’s generous contribution will help support the Long-Term Recovery Group’s continued efforts to address unmet needs and assist wildfire-affected families throughout the recovery and rebuilding process.

“Georgia Power has always believed in being more than an energy provider” said Brent James, Area Manager of Georgia Power. “We’re a part of the communities we serve. The wildfires in Brantley County have had a tremendous impact on families and the entire community, and we want those affected to know they are not alone as they begin the recovery process. We’re proud to stand behind our communities during this difficult time.”

Brantley County Family Connection and the Brantley County Long-Term Recovery Group are deeply grateful to Georgia Power for its generosity, partnership, and commitment to helping Brantley County recover, rebuild, and move forward.
