NAHUNTA — Magnolia House–Waycross Area Shelter for Abused Persons, Inc. welcomed community members, local leaders, first responders, law enforcement, and community partners to the Brantley County Satellite Office Open House Thursday, September 24 with a ribbon cutting ceremony capping the event.
The evening marked an important milestone for Magnolia House as the organization officially opened the doors of its Brantley County Satellite Office, located at 10784 N Main Street, Suite B. The open house provided an opportunity for the community to tour the new office, meet Magnolia House staff, learn more about available services, and become familiar with a resource that is now more accessible to individuals and families throughout Brantley County.
Magnolia House was honored to welcome numerous members of law enforcement, first responders, city and county officials, community partners, local organizations, and community members throughout the evening.
“We are incredibly grateful for the support Brantley County has shown Magnolia House,” said Michelle Girtman, Executive Director of Magnolia House. “The work we do would not be possible without the law enforcement agencies, first responders, local leaders, community partners, businesses, organizations, and individuals who stand beside us.
“This office represents more than a new location — it represents greater access to help, hope, and resources for those who may need us.” As part of the celebration, Magnolia House officially joined the Brantley County Chamber of Commerce and participated in a ribbon-cutting ceremony organized by Justin Bowers, President of the Brantley County Chamber of Commerce.
Magnolia House appreciates the Chamber and its members for welcoming the organization and helping celebrate this new chapter of service in Brantley County.
Another meaningful moment during the event came when Nahunta Mayor Marty Lee signed a Domestic Violence Awareness Month proclamation, declaring October 2026 as Domestic Violence Awareness Month affirming the City of Nahunta's commitment to raising awareness about domestic violence and supporting efforts to end abuse within the community.
The new satellite office will allow Magnolia House to have a stronger and more consistent presence in Brantley County. Staff will be available to connect survivors and community members with information, advocacy, resources, referrals, safety planning, and other support related to domestic violence.
The office will also provide an additional point of connection between Magnolia House and local law enforcement, first responders, agencies, schools, organizations, and other community partners working to support individuals and families throughout the county.
The Brantley County Satellite Office will be open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Magnolia House understands a crisis does not always happen during regular business hours. Anyone needing assistance after hours can contact the 24/7 Crisis Hotline at 912-2855850.
